SAND / SOIL STABILIZATION

Sand/Soil stabilization is a general term for any physical, chemical, biological, or combined method of changing a natural sand/soil surface to meet an engineering design specification.

Advantages

  • Increases the weight bearing capabilities and performance of in-situ subsoil’s, sands, and other selected aggregates and fillers.
  • Strengthens the composite and increase surface resistance to abrasion and erosion.
  • Our polymer has been proven to increase the Sand/Soil density or bearing ratio (CBR) of in-situ soils by up to 45%.
  • Applied topically, polymer Sand/Soil treatment is a vast improvement of on-site materials, creating a solid, erosion resistant, base course surface; greatly minimizing base erosion, asphalt deterioration, and reducing maintenance costs over a road’s lifecycle.
  • In developing countries, but more now in developed countries, polymer Sand/soil stabilization methods are being used to construct the entire road.
  • In the past, soil stabilization was done by utilizing the binding properties of clay soils, cement- infusion, and/or utilizing the “rammed earth” technique and lime.
  • As technology evolved a new classification of ‘GREEN TECHNOLOGY stabilizing co-polymers emerged due to their benign chemical nature.

The Scorpion Claycrete Zerosion II portfolio of products is on such emerging green technology.

  • The Zerosion II line was developed for its performance and environmentally neutral formulation of the base chemistry.
  • Across the spectrum of available co-polymers there are many which, while possessing the physical performance properties necessary to stabilize sand/soil, contain leachates that may pose an environmental risk.
  • No such chemistry is part of the Zerosion II line. The FDA has listed polymers similar to Zerosion II as “food contact” grade, the most benign and harmless to nature.
  • Scorpion-Claycrete products are in a family of polymers which have been used extensively for nearly 100 years in the most demanding construction and consumer applications.
Scorpion –Claycrete products successfully utilized for:
  • Sub-base stabilization
